Today I talk about a study that was completed in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine that watched fast food menus from 1997 to 2010. During this time McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby's, Jack in the Box and Dairy Queen, added more “healthier options, but does that mean more people are eating healthy? Here is what they found:
There are more options. This is leading to people eating more.
Drink options increased by 31 percent with Sweet Tea making a big dent on the menu.
While salads increased (good thing) the calories in dressing increased by 20%
Desserts went form 334 calories to over 500.
Don't be fooled by “oatmeal” and salads. As always, read the labels and make an informed decision.
Hydros Water Battle Was a Bust
I bought a Hyrdos water bottle as it seemed like a cool gadget. You get filtered water on the go. The best part is I got $15 off by using my rewards from Earndit.com
I had to hold the white band to be able to turn the bottle. It looks easy in the video, but it took some elbow grease. I found the icons on the bottle hard to read (but then again, I'm old). When I tried to fill it, I got some water on my hands and now I lost my grip to get the bottle to open or close. I used it twice in one day, and instead of making it easy to get water it created a headache. Maybe I got a dud, but I ended up throwing it away. I loved the company, the idea, and the charity work the company does, but in the end the product was too much of a hassle with too much of a learning curve. I'm not sure the “side fill” was a feature I needed. How about yuo have yuo had experience with a Hydros bottle? Leave a comment below.
You can see at the 2:21 second mark if you hands are wet, and the seal is tight, you might have an issue.
