Last episode I mentioned Fitdecks. They seemed cool, but I wanted to know more about the decks and about the company. It turns out the inventor was not only a Navy Seal, but a Navy Seal trainer. They have all sorts of cards including: exercise ball, travel, pre and post natal, pull up, dumbbell, balance dome, Junior, Senior, Yoga, Pilates, Stretch, and more.
Now when you go to http://fitdeck.logicalloss.com and use the coupon code logical10 you get 10% off your order. (I ordered the FitDeck Body weight for $14.99 and will be reviewing it in the future.
Affordable Heart Rate Monitors with Changeable Batteries
In a previous episode I had mentioned the Omron Heart Rate monitor for $32. Unfortunately it did do anything but measure your heart rate and alert you when you were not in your zone. I wanted one that tracked calories. Jilian Michaels talks about wearing a heart rate monitor all day, and with a polar heart rate monitor you are “wasting” your battery life (as there is no way to replace the batteries in a Polar heart rate monitor). With the Timex Heart Rate monitor you can replace the batteries in both the transmitter and the receiver. The T5H911 heart rate monitor is only %59.95 (compared to the 100 for a polar F6). Ladies there is a midsize T5j983 heart rate monitor for around $57. You can track your average heart rate and pre-set target heart rate zones with data for time spent within that zone and alarms. It can also display data for calories burned and offers a recovery timer that measures your heart rate after a timed recovery during or after your workout.
Good and Bad Carbs
Complex Carbohydrates take longer to break down. This means you feel fuller longer. When you eat simple carbs you get a big sugar rush, and later that burns off quickly leaving you hungry. Try eating whole wheat bread instead of white. This is paraphrased from the book Fitness For Dummies
