Audible More Expensive that iTunes
Apparently Steve Jobbs and Apple have put the squeeze on Audible. They seem to carry most of the books from Audible (they even say they are from Audible when you start to listen) and yet they are cheaper from iTunes.
Audible always made sense if you were going to buy books on CD. It’s less expensive to purchase them as a download. In some cases if there was a reference guide for the book, the would make it available as a download. Now I see where Apple’s iTunes allows you to get the same books for a few bucks cheaper.
Bob (from the Biggest Loser) has his book “Are You Ready” now in paperback. I also found out you can get the audio version (abridged) for $13.96 at Audible.com or for $11.95 from iTunes, OR you an get it for and you can get it from Amazon for $10.47 (oddly enough from the Audible site that just tried to charge you 14 bucks). You can get the reference guide for Are You Ready at audible (even if you bought it at iTunes or amazon). So in theory you are paying more for the book in iTunes as you will not get the reference guide.
Body For Life Training Schedule
Body For Life Exercise Animations
Exercise Guide Where you enter how much you lifted, reps, sets, etc
The new Body For Life Champions book you can find the reference guide fort the book at Audible.com or by clicking HERE
Then I found that this book is 16.06 at Audible.com and only $13.95 at iTunes.
So you can get these health related reference guides for free.
Free Audio Books
Jonathan from Australia had mentioned he like to listen to BBC Documentaries and ABC programs, but was looking for FREE audio books. The one site I know of is www.podiobooks.com in theory you are supposed to donate to the author, but in theory you could stiff them and get it for free (if you can live with yourself). Also, Jonathon is measuring his steps at http://10000steps.org.au/ and some other items at www.sparkpeple.com You can learn more about how to use Spark People through my Spark Videos (link at the top of the page).
To get audio books from iTunes click the link below
iTunes Store Audiobooks
or you can get many of the same audio books at Amazon.com
Audio Books the only thing is at Amazon.com you have to look for the download link (or you can order them on CD, but not at a savings). Not all books at amazon.com are available as a download (unlike the iTunes Store ).

Exercising on an Empty Stomach I Don’t Know
The biggest loser books says this is a good idea, trainers at Spark People say its bad as you are running on empty. The book “Body For Life Champions” says 20 minutes on a empty stomach is like exercising for an hour on a full stomach. Who do you believe?
My answer?
1. I’m not a doctor, or nutritionist. As with all exercise ask your doctor.
2. Exercising on an empty stomach could reduce the intensity of your workout. That would be bad.
3. I would think the math of “calories burned vs calories expended” does not care when you eat the calories. While it may be easier to burn fat with less carbs around, I am confused.
4. You can’t burn fat without some help from carbohydrates. I’ve heard the analogy of fat being the charcoal and carbs being the lighter fluid (or fat is the log and carbs are the kindling), so I’m not sure you can burn “just fat.”
5. As with any exercise or diet modifications, make notes in your tracking system (be it paper or software) and track your results. Wathc how your body responds. ALWAYS pay attention to your body and if you feel dizzy or pain. STOP.

I agree with you about not exercising on an empty stomach. One morning I got up and exercised before breakfast and I felt nauseous and weak for the whole day.
The eating carbs before exercise (something marathon runners used to do) has also been busted. I have read this in several diet / exercise sites…think one article was Spark People.
