One book I really like is the Bob Harper "are you ready" book. There is a section where Bob lists all sorts of food that he recommends eating. It's a nice variation from the don't eat this and don't eat that you normally hear.

Most of the book addresses the mental side of why you are where you are and motivates you to say, yes I am ready.

I also thought this book had a great section on dealing with emotional eating. he talks about having to forgive yourself for yoru past mistakes. Also in some cases we may be eating to forget other things that have happened in your life (Bob talks about his Dad if I remember). You have to realize that this was probably not your fault, and to forgive them and move. on.
