Greetings Dave and other LWL members.

I am an Australian living the quiet life teaching in a minor coastal resort town.

At the beginning of 2008 I was the biggest I have ever been in my life and weighed 95kg.  I was obese.

I have been overweight for approximately eight years.  I am 44 currently 87kg and 175cm tall. I am now overweight.

I have a goal weight of 75kg which will bring me to an upper limit of healthy weight for my height. 13kg to go.

I know that working in kilograms is not going to make much sense, but you will have to do that math yourself. Alternatively you can Google the conversions to stones, pounds, feet and inches.

For the past two months I have taken serious life changing steps to reduce my weight.

In November I started to exercise daily using a treadmill. However, I kept eating and my weight fluctuated. Going down then up again around 90kg. I would have been walking 30 – 45 min a day at 70% of my maximum heart rate.

In December I started a Weight Watchers plan and have been doing this for three weeks.

I have also increased the amount of daily exercise. Today I did 1.5 hours total.

Since November I have also use the Times Health Club to log my exercise and weight loss. I am a member of the AB Fab group and they are very supportive. I also like the simplicity of using the tracking of weight and exercise.

Finally while walking I have been listening to Dave’s pod cast. I have used Juice to download past episodes. Programs are on the whole informative, useful and supportive. Though I don't always  agree with Dave's  methods,  much of what he says is sound.

Looking forward to hearing what others are doing.

Jonathan

Jonathan,
Thanks for the heads up, keep up the great work, and thanks for the link to the times health club. You can do it. Do you listen to any music on the treadmill?

Hey there Dave

Since my last post I am approaching my goal weight. I am now 83kg and 8kg to my goal weight.

I have literally walked off more than 10kgs since the end of November 2008.

For the past month I have been using a Polar 11 heart rate monitor. It has made a big difference as I now know when I am in the right zone for weight loss.

I count steps on 10000.org , log cardio (walking) on Spark People and I used to also log my exercise on Times Health Club , but it went pear shaped and it seems to have deleted all my records.

BTW I don't do any strength training or weights. Why?  Many many years ago I was a member of a gymnasium, I was told that bodies either lose weight or they build muscle strength. I also found (and lost) an article on Spark People that told me the same thing.

So far it has worked for me.

Cheers

Jonathan
